The house
A family home first, a rental second
Ilídio Freire da Silva and Conceição Mendes Simões built this house on Rua do Barco in 1975. For decades it was a simple family home that smelled of morning coffee and of the orange trees in the yard. We took it back to its bones and rebuilt it completely: white walls, warm oak floors, marble bathrooms, a kitchen that opens straight into the living room, an attic under the roofline and a pool in the garden.
Their photograph still hangs in the hallway, and the house carries her name. Everything around it is new, and we rent it the only way that felt right, which is the whole house, to one family or group at a time. No strangers across the hall, no shared pool. You get the keys and it's your home in Portugal for as long as you're here.

The villa sits in a village rather than a resort, so a car is part of the holiday here, not an extra. We run Portugal Auto Rentals ourselves, so the house and the car can be arranged with the same people rather than two strangers.
